FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) - Fayetteville police are investigating a homicide that occurred Monday night, a news release said.
Officers responded to a call about a reported shooting at the 1600 block of Slater Avenue at about 9:48 p.m. Monday.
The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect made contact with the victim, produced a handgun, shot the victim, and fled the scene.
Officials said both the suspect and victim are adults. Police said the victim, identified as 28-year-old Nekeshia Washington, was shot at her home and was found in the front yard.
No other information was available.
The release said a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers for information that leads to an arrest.
