FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A firefighter was admitted to a hospital Saturday morning after battling a fire in Fayetteville, officials said.

The fire involved 2,000 bales of hay in large storage barn at 5947 Fisher Road, according to a news release from Fayetteville fire officials.

The fire was reported just after 3:10 a.m. and Fayetteville and Stoney Point fire departments responded.

During the blaze, a Stoney Point fireman complained about chest pain and was taken to on-scene paramedics, who ran tests which revealed some problems, officials said.

The paramedics then immediately took the man to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was admitted, Stoney Point fire officials said.

There is no word on what caused the fire, which was still underway around 9:30 a.m. Saturday
