Fort Bragg reopens gate after foreign national attempts to get on post

Cumberland County News

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WNCN) – A security issue forced Fort Bragg to close access to post at the All American Freeway Tuesday afternoon.

It reopened around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Fort Bragg officials said a man who was acting suspiciously arrived at the gate – prompting the closure.

The man was traveling under a valid Jordanian passport, officials said. He at first refused to present his ID and then didn’t want to give Fort Bragg officials access to his vehicle.

The incident appeared to be benign but the explosive removal team was called to the scene.

There was no “overt attempt” by the man to get on post, officials said.

The man’s vehicle will be towed.

Traffic was being diverted onto Highway 295.
