Officials ID man killed in Fayetteville accident, say weather is to blame

Officials have identified the man killed in an accident in Fayetteville Tuesday night.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said 65-year-old Phillip Ray Garr, of Fuquay-Varina hydroplaned while driving on Ramsey Street.

They said he ended up losing control, crossed the center lane, and collided with a car going in the opposite direction. 

EARLIER: 1 dead in vehicle crash in Fayetteville, troopers say

Garr wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He died at the scene.

The driver of the other is OK, officials said. No charges will be filed.
