FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — There are still no arrests after two men were mysteriously found dead near a school on the same Fayetteville street.
Parents picking up their kids from school on Plantation Drive say they had no idea police were looking for a killer there.
“It feels kinda scary because I leave my car on, I just left my car on to go get her and that’s dangerous, right in front of a school,” said mother of two Rashetta Charles.
The two men were found dead on Plantation Drive.
The most recent, Willis Whitfield, 79, was found dead in his house in August 2018. His family rushed over from out of state right after it happened.
“I know I’m not gonna stop crying, but sooner or later, I don’t have anything, I’m empty right now,” said Whitfield’s daughter Charline Whitfield.
Police say they’re still trying to figure out whether somebody did this and are now waiting on DNA evidence.
Just three doors down, another man was found dead.
Police say 25-year-old Charles Greene Jr., a disabled man, was shot and killed in his house on plantation drive back in 2017.
For more than a year, the gunman in that case has been on the run.
Greene’s family could not be reached.
But police say they’re still working both cases and asking anyone for information on the men found dead at homes across the street from a school.
