A fourth man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a California man that occurred in July, Durham police announced Wednesday.
According to police, Ly Teng Nhiayi, 32, was found shot inside a burning car on July 26 on Guardian Drive around 9:45 p.m.
Joshua Bernard McClain, 27, of Durham, is the fourth person to be charged with murder in Nhiayi’s death.
McClain is not in custody at this time, police said.
Previously, three men were arrested Sept. 27 and charged with Nhiayi’s murder, police said.
Derrick Tyson, 40, of Bear Creek, and Reginald McClain, 28, and Walter Thorne-Price, 29, both of Durham, are charged with murder.
According to police, investigators served search warrants at homes in Cary, Durham and Greensboro and discovered a stolen gun and drugs, which led to the arrests of the three suspects in September.
Investigators do not believe the shooting was random.
Anyone with information on McClain’s whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Evans at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29336 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
