Durham death investigation underway after man found dead in crashed car

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A death investigation is underway in Durham after police found a man dead inside a crashed vehicle on Thursday morning.

Dispatchers received a call at 3:41 a.m. in reference to a driver hitting several parked vehicles in the 4400 block of Hopson Road, according to police.

When authorities arrived on scene at the Southern Oaks at Davis Park apartment complex, they discovered that the driver of the vehicle was dead inside.

Several cars were damaged in the crash, police said.

Police said it was a low-speed crash and the man’s body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office in Raleigh to determine whether he died of natural causes or if the case is a homicide.
