Durham Kohl’s robbed before opening after employee let robber inside, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Kohl’s store in Durham was robbed Wednesday morning before the store was even open, police said.

Authorities received a call referencing a robbery at the Kohl’s located at 5241 McFarland Drive around 6:45 a.m., according to police.

Police said the robber was let into the store by someone. Once inside, the man robbed the store of cash at gunpoint and then fled on foot.

The robber was described as a man between the ages of 20 and 30 who was around 5 foot 7. He was wearing a ski mask and black jacket.

Only Kohl’s employees were in the store at the time and police said they’re not sure how or why someone let the robber in.

No one was injured and the robbery is under investigation.
