Durham police locate woman who went missing in November 2019

Durham police say 38-year-old Summer “Soodie” Lynn Newman has been found safe.

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham police need the public’s help in locating a woman last seen on Nov. 1, 2019.

Police say 38-year-old Summer “Soodie” Lynn Newman was last seen by family. She was recently reported missing by a family member who lives out of state.

Newman is a white female, standing approximately 5-foot-8- and 130 pounds. She has long brown hair. She has been known to frequent Guess Road and North Pointe Drive near Interstate 85 in Durham.

Investigators say they are also attempting to locate and speak with James Aaron Joyner, 44of Tarboro.

Joyner may have been the last person to see Newman before her disappearance. According to investigators, Joyner is not a suspect in this case but may have information that could help with the investigation.

Anyone with information on Newman’s and/or Joyner’s whereabouts is asked to call Sgt. Garcia at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29326, the DPD’s main desk at (919) 560-4427 or 911.
