DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The Durham Rescue Mission is in need of 1,500 Easter baskets for their annual Easter event being held in April.
The Durham Rescue Mission anticipates that more than 1,500 of the Triangle’s at-risk children will come together on April 19 at their annual Easter Community Dinner and Easter Basket Give-away — and they’re in need of donations for the event.
Rescue mission officials said that some families will come as early as 6 a.m. to get in line for a chance to get an Easter basket for their children.
The Durham Rescue Mission currently has no baskets in hand. They will need at least 1,500 donated by April 12.
For those who want to donate, you can donate $15 per basket at their website. They will be able to buy the baskets in bulk with the donations and for those who can’t give the full $15, any donation amount will be combined with other donations to buy baskets.
If you would prefer to buy a basket and donate it, you can drop them off at 1201 E. Main St. in Durham.
The Durham Rescue Mission is also looking for 450 volunteers to help set up, serve meals, give away Easter baskets, clothing and groceries, and help host games for the kids.
