DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) - Durham police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in July.
A call regarding a shooting came in to 911 just before 3:50 a.m. in the 100 block of West Channing Avenue on July 31, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers found a man shot to death on a porch. That man was later identified as 43-year-old Reginald Johnson, of Durham.
Police sent a press release Wednesday morning stating that Sterling Eugene Whitted, 48, of Durham, was arrested and charged in connection with Johnson's murder.
The shooting does not appear to be random, according to homicide investigators.
Whitted is charged with murder, as well as trafficking heroin. The heroin charge is from a separate case.
The suspect is being held in Durham County Jail without bond.
