DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Authorities say that an overturned truck caused major traffic problems Friday afternoon on Interstate 40 in Durham County.

The crash was on a ramp from I-40 west to N.C. 55, which is exit 279, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The wreck happened around 1:20 p.m.

A CBS 17 journalist at the scene reported that a garbage truck flipped on its side, spilling some trash on the road.

On DOT cameras, I-40 traffic could be seen backed up to past Miami Boulevard.

The ramp reopened just after 3 p.m.
