Suspect charged after Durham County man shot in the head

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The man wanted for shooting another man inside his Durham County home turned himself in Wednesday night, according to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

Alarius Montreal Liles, 26, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

The charges stem from a shooting Monday night.

The incident was reported around 10:50 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Hancock Street in Durham County, deputies said in a news release.

A resident was found in the home with a gunshot wound to his head, according to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office release.

The 41-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said that his wounds were non-life-threatening.

Liles was developed as the suspect on Tuesday evening.

After turning himself in, Liles was taken to the Durham County Detention Center where is being held on a $1 million bond.
