Woman, man seriously wounded in broad-daylight shooting in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- Two people were shot in broad daylight in the parking lot of a Durham apartment building on Saturday, police said.

The incident was reported around 2 p.m. at 561 Liberty St., according to Durham police.

A 55-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were seriously wounded in the shooting, officials said.

Police said the pair were shot in their lower extremities. The victims were taken to Duke Hospital.

As of 3:50 p.m., the scene was still active with police investigating the incident.

No other information was released.
