Issues, long wait times continue at DMV offices in the Triangle, across NC

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - It's been a rough 24 hours for people scrambling to get license plates and renewal stickers from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

It has been an ongoing problem affecting people here in the Triangle and across the state.

The doors are back open after offices had to close early on Tuesday due to computer issues, but the same issues that resulted in office closures were still being reported on Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson with the state, the Department of Revenue system is still down, but according to customers at the license plate agency at Six Forks Road and Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh, it didn't stop them from paying with a card at that location. Customers have been able to get in and out within minutes.

At the Spring Forest Road DMV, lines were still four to five hours long Wednesday, but officials said that was due to the new Real ID requirements and not because of any network issues plagued the state in three out of the last six business days.
