Mom charged after baby abducted in Johnston County, deputies say

WILLOW SPRING, N.C. (WNCN) - A woman was charged with abduction of child after she took off with a baby in Johnston County Wednesday night.

Officials said the mother abducted the child just as deputies and the DSS were working on a custody order.

Officials told CBS 17's Amy Cutler that DSS went to the house to secure custody of the child, but didn't feel safe because there were other people at the home.

Deputies were called and when they arrived, a fight took place at the home.

That's when the mother took off, deputies said. She and some of those involved in the fight are in custody.

The baby was later found safe.

Bianca Hampton, 26, the mother, was taken into custody, officials said.

The other people are charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing law enforcement, deputies say.
