SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) – A power outage Friday is affecting more than 2,500 customers in Johnston County and forced Cleveland High School to dismiss early.

A Duke Energy outage map says a fallen tree or limbs may have damaged equipment leading to the outage.

Customers from Willow Spring to Smithfield are without power.

Service is expected to be restored around 3:15 p.m.
