SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — The Lee County sheriff is asking for the public's help after an 80-year-old woman was found dead in her Sanford home on Sunday evening.
Sheriff Tracy Carter said the death of Norma Smith Brown is being investigated as a homicide.
Brown was found dead by a family member around 7:45 p.m. in her home in the 100 block of Polly Lane in Sanford, Carter said.
Brown’s car was stolen and later found about three miles away on Charlotte Avenue.
Carter is asking for anyone who might have seen the person driving Brown's vehicle and leaving in the 100 block of Charlotte Avenue.
Officials did not say how Brown was killed. No other information was released.
