HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The superintendent of Orange County is stepping down after the school year ends, according to an announcement Tuesday.
Todd Wirt announced he will step aside as the school system’s superintendent at the end of June.
“This was completely my decision and one that we are (at) peace with as a family,” Wirt wrote.
Wirt was hired in 2015 after a three-year term as assistant superintendent for the Wake County Public School System. He graduated from Elon University and has been a North Carolina educator and administrator for more than 20 years.
