HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An Orange County road is closed after flood waters caused a sinkhole to form over the weekend.
Davis Road at Orange Grove Road was closed after the sinkhole started to develop on Saturday, according to Orange County officials.
Rushing waters washed out an area under the road and the asphalt buckled.
Authorities then closed the road in both directions Saturday night near Oak Ridge Drive, which is just south of Interstate 40 near Hillsborough.
The road, also called State Road 1129, is expected to reopen on April 29, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
