Warrant: Man arrested for trying to sell counterfeit UNC-Duke ticket to police officer

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was arrested for trying to sell a counterfeit ticket to Wednesday’s game between North Carolina and Duke, according to a warrant.

Timothy Hasan Sumer, of Baltimore, Maryland, tried to sell a Carrboro police officer a counterfeit ticket for $900. He also had eight counterfeit tickets in his possession with the Ticketmaster logo on them, according to the warrant. 

The warrant said the fraudulent tickets were valued at $7,200.

Sumer is charged with two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and counterfeiting a trademark, the warrant shows.
