Suspect killed in shootout with deputies in Aberdeen, officials say

ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) - Authorities say a man was shot and killed by Moore County deputies who were responding to a domestic incident early Saturday.

Deputies were called to Forrest Place near Sand Pit Road just before 3 a.m. Saturday. 

Shortly after deputies arrived on scene, authorities say a suspect, began shooting at the deputies.

According to Sheriff Neil Godfrey, the deputies shot back, killing the suspect.

Officials later identified the suspect who died as Arthur Kenzie Garner, 33.

No deputies were injured.

The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting and the deputies involved are on leave, which is standard protocol.
