42-year-old man shot in Apex, suspects flee scene, police say

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) – A 42-year-old Raleigh man was shot Wednesday afternoon at a scene just west of downtown Apex.

A 911 call reporting the shooting came in just before 1:40 p.m. from the 600 block of W. Chatham Street.

Officers arrived on scene to find the victim who was able to give a “brief statement” before being transported to the hospital.

Apex police said the suspect fled the scene and but did not release further information.

The shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public, police said.
