3 men stabbed near downtown Raleigh, 19-year-old charged, police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Three men were stabbed on Wednesday night just outside downtown Raleigh, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of Idlewild Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they found three males at the scene who had been stabbed.

The men were transported to WakeMed for treatment of their injuries. Police did not release the condition of the victims.

It’s unclear at this time if there’s a suspect in custody.

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals the stabbings were not random.

Joshua Surles, 19, has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, as well as assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

He is being held in the Wake County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
