A Cary mom is sounding the alarm after she says a man made hostile and disturbing comments to her baby and husband at Bond Park over the weekend.
The mother posted on Facebook that her husband took their 1-year-old for a walk in the park Sunday. He noticed a man who gave him a “strange feeling.”
The post goes on the say the man approached the father, and baby “with his arms out as if to grab something,” and asked “what would you do if I ripped your baby’s head off?”
The mom said the man laughed and kept walking. She also said her husband called police who said they received additional calls about a similar man.
She asked to remain anonymous, but said the comments were so concerning she wanted to warn other parents.
“That’s very disturbing actually,” said Ketan Tahkkar, who was in the park with his wife and two children.
Tahkkar and other parents in the park Wednesday evening said they were keeping an extra close eye on their children, and any unwelcome strangers.
“Normally you just let your kid play in the park. I mean, you keep an eye, but you still want them to enjoy,” Tahkkar said.
Garbriela Lopez, mother of four, said she saw the post on Facebook and was grateful for the warning. Her family comes to Bond Park often.
“I wouldn’t know how to react to that honestly. That is shocking. It is shocking,” said Lopez. “I would have been terrified if that happened to me.”
Cary Police said the suspect description is vague, but they have stepped up patrols and will continue to do so.
Police are encouraging park visitors to call police if they see anything suspicious.
