Exhibit honors historic African Americans in a unique way

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Honoring African Americans in history, hundreds gathered for a unique exhibit at North Carolina State University on Saturday.

The African American Cultural Center and its AYA Ambassadors student group presented the 2020 Blacks in Wax Live Museum.

Students portrayed the likes of Malcolm X, Arthur Ashe, Shirley Chisholm, and others while sharing monologues of key moments in black history. Visitors took turns guessing which historic figure was being portrayed.

“It’s a fun educational tool for people to learn about black history in a different way​,” said Interim Director Johnathan McCorey.

The African American Cultural Center promotes awareness and appreciation for African Americans and others of African descent and their experiences through activities and events.
