RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The sold-out two-day Dreamville Festival is underway at Dorthea Dix Park on Saturday afternoon.
Gates opened at noon but hundreds were in line long before. Dreamville is the brainchild of Grammy-nominated rapper and Fayetteville native J. Cole.
Traveling from near and far, 40,000 fans are expected to attend this first-ever large scale event at Dix Park.
Major traffic congestion is expected around Dix Park, Western Boulevard and the downtown area. People not attending the festival are advised to avoid the area.
As of 3:30 p.m. no major traffic problems were seen in interstates with some back-ups on Western Boulevard.
A shuttle will be in place for people parking downtown.
City officials said the park will be closed to the general public until Sunday afternoon. During that time, only those with a ticket to Dreamville will be allowed to enter Dix Park.
