Food drive set at 10 Triangle stores ahead of NC teacher rally

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A food drive will be held this weekend for students to help when school is out on May 1 because of a teacher rally in Raleigh.

On Saturday, volunteers will be standing outside of 10 grocery stores in Apex, Durham, Cary, and Raleigh.

The Interfaith Food Shuttle is partnering to help in the 7th annual Food Drive to Benefit Backpack Buddies. 

Already, several area schools systems said they will close May 1 for the North Carolina Educators Day of Action, which is a march in Raleigh.

Here are the locations where food will be collected on Saturday:

Food Lion, 3415 Avent Ferry Road 
Food Lion, 2420 Wycliff Road  
Food Lion, 5633 Creedmoor Road  
Food Lion, 2861 Jones Franklin Road  
Harris Teeter, 500 Oberlin Road  
Harris Teeter, 5563 Western Blvd.
