WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A garage and several cars were damaged in a fire in Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon.

The incident was reported just after 2:25 p.m. as a structure fire in the 4200 block of Purnell Road, according to a news release from Wake Forest fire officials.

The structure was a small outbuilding used as a garage that was surrounded by an area where used automotive parts were stored, the news release said. 

“On arrival, several vehicles were on fire as well,” fire officials said.

In video near the scene, a dense column of dark smoke was visible.

 Wake Forest and Northern Wake fire departments were able to extinguish the blaze. 

No one was hurt.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the fire.
