Garner man charged after accidentally shooting 14-year-old son

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) – Authorities say 45-year-old James Williams Johnson, of Garner, has been charged with felony child abuse after an accidental shooting injuring his 14-year-old son.

The shooting happened at their Powell Drive home shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

The 14-year-old was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police have not said how the shooting happened.

The incident remains under investigation
