Man wounded in Wake Forest shooting

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was wounded in a shooting in Wake Forest on Friday night, police said.

The incident was reported around 10:20 p.m. when shots were heard in the area of Highgate Circle, Wake Forest officials said. Police were unable to find a victim at the Highgate Circle area.

Police later received a call from a man who was suffering a gunshot wound.

Wake Forest officials said the victim “had driven from New Hope Village, where the shooting occurred, to an area along North Taylor Street.” 

The rear window of a small white sedan also was found shattered at the scene along North Taylor Street and appeared to have been shot out.

A man who was at the scene claimed to be the victim’s brother. The man at the scene said his brother, the victim, was shot in his hands.

The victim was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
