Pedestrian struck by vehicle, killed Thursday night in Raleigh, police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a passenger vehicle Thursday night.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Wake Forest Road at Ronald Drive, according to Raleigh police.

A preliminary report released by Raleigh police said Alvis Gerald Wells Jr “darted across Wake Forest Road” outside of a crosswalk. 

The 56-year-old was in an unlit portion of the road when he was hit. 

The road was closed while police investigated the crash.  However, the road has since reopened.

There were no other injuries and no charges have been filed at this time
