RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect in the area of Bashford Road after he led authorities on a car chase Friday.

On Friday at 12:26 p.m., a State Highway Patrol trooper saw a white Toyota traveling recklessly on Wade Avenue onto Interstate 440 West in Wake County.

The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop and the trooper pursued the vehicle.

The NCSHP said the suspect bailed out of his vehicle at Hayloft Circle. Police are telling residents to stay in their homes and in their cars.

A nearby school, Connections Academy, was in a code-yellow lockdown as a precautionary measure.

As of 2:24 p.m., police said K-9s had been deployed in the area to help track the suspect.

The Highway Patrol said no injuries or property damage were reported.

As of late Saturday afternoon, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said no arrests had been made and there were no new developments in the case.

Troopers on Friday said residents in the area should look for a Black male with dreadlocks, wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. Residents were asked to call 911 if they see the suspect.
