Chase involving stolen motorcycle ends in crash, Wake County sheriff says

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - Raleigh police are investigating after a chase involving the Wake County Sheriff's Office ended in a crash, officials said.

Officials said deputies were chasing a motorcyclist on New Bern Avenue.

Deputies saw a motorcycle with no license plate and attempted to stop the driver. The motorcyclist accelerated to evade authorities.

The chase lasted for roughly seven miles and ended when the driver ran off the road. The driver wasn't seriously injured and has been taken into custody.

Michael Brandon Jones, 25 of Bailey, was the driver and is charged with flee/elude arrest, officials said.

On Saturday, Jones was being held in the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 bond. 

The motorcycle was stolen, according to officials.

The sheriff's office said no deputies were injured.
