RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – There must be something about the South.
Homes.com‘s list of the top family-friendly cities across America has nine Southern cities in its top 10.
The lone top 10 city outside the South is Pittsburgh.
At the top is Virginia Beach – followed by Raleigh at No. 2 and then Charlotte.
Charlotte fell from the No. 1 spot in 2017 to No. 3 in 2019.
Homes.come looked at six key factors to determine its list:
1) School quality
2) Park availability
3) Cost of living
4) Safety
5) Childcare availability
6) Commute length
Each of the six indicators was graded on a 5-point scale.
Virginia Beach received an overall score of 44.98 out of 50.
Raleigh earned a 44.25 while Charlotte was graded out as 42.93.
