RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – There must be something about the South.

The lone top 10 city outside the South is Pittsburgh.

At the top is Virginia Beach – followed by Raleigh at No. 2 and then Charlotte.

Charlotte fell from the No. 1 spot in 2017 to No. 3 in 2019.

3) Cost of living

4) Safety

5) Childcare availability

6) Commute length

Each of the six indicators was graded on a 5-point scale.
