LOUISBURG, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was found dead in his cell in the Franklin County Detention Center early Thursday morning, officials say.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the 32-year-old man was found dead around 5:30 a.m.

“There were no signs of foul play or suspicious activity,” the news release said.

Brian Alfred Rogers of Mountain Mill Drive in Raleigh was later identified as the inmate who died, officials said.

The SBI has been asked to investigate, which officials said is standard in this type of case.

“The sheriff’s office is saddened at the loss of life and extends their condolences to the individual’s family,” Franklin County Sheriff Ken Winstead said in the news release.
