CARY, N.C. (WNCN) - A major section of the Cary Parkway was shut down after a gas line was busted Tuesday morning, according to town officials.
A private contractor broke a gas line around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cary Parkway and Chatham Street, officials said.
The ruptured line caused a closure on the road between Chatham Street and Laura Duncan Road, according to officials.
The line was secured around 1 p.m. but full repairs could take several more hours.
Town of Cary officials are asking that motorists avoid the area until further notice.
No one was injured and no one has been evacuated, but those in the area are being asked to shelter in place.
