Vehicle hits fire hydrant in Raleigh, causing road closure near downtown

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A vehicle hit a fire hydrant in Raleigh Thursday, causing a road closure, according to officials.

Glenwood Avenue outbound at Washington Street is closed. The fire hydrant was knocked off its pedestal, sending water shooting into the air. Public works employees are en route to shut it off, officials said.

There are no injuries and no damages to the roadway. The incident happened at about 3 p.m.
