Wake County deputy injured in downtown Raleigh crash, officials say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon in downtown Raleigh, according to authorities.

The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of S. Dawson Street and W. South Street when, according to the sheriff’s office, a car ran a red light and slammed into the deputy’s cruiser.

The deputy, a female school resource officer, complained of minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Raleigh police are the investigating agency. Police did not have any information regarding any other injuries or whether charges will be filed.
