Another suspect, Salyett Lorenzo Brown III, turned himself in to the Wake County Detention Center on Christmas Day following the shooting, authorities said.

Brown has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property and simple assault.

The shooting was reported just after 12:20 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Police said the incident started as a “physical altercation” between two males and then gunshots were fired in the parking lot at an apartment complex.

Wake Forest police blocked off an area around some apartments while they conducted an investigation.

One of the males was shot in his foot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The 23-year-old victim and the suspect knew each other, according to police.

The shooting victim was taken to WakeMed for treatment.

Brown is being held under a $60,000 secured bond.
