Woman crossing street hit by Wake County deputy, Raleigh police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Wake County deputy hit a woman crossing the street Wednesday, according to Raleigh police.

The deputy was driving on Martin Street downtown around 5:45 p.m. when the incident occurred. Police said the woman was crossing between McDowell and Dawson streets. She wasn’t in a crosswalk.

The woman stepped out in front of the deputy’s vehicle and was hit, police said. Her injuries were not serious and no charges are being filed.
