Woman drives over retaining wall, ends up 40 feet down embankment, Raleigh police say

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman suffered only minor injuries after she unintentionally drove her car over a retaining wall and down into a ditch outside a parking lot, Raleigh police said.

The woman drove over a 30-foot retaining wall in the parking lot of Scholastic Book Warehouse in Raleigh and her car went down about 40 feet into a wooded area, according to officials.

The woman is OK and walked to an ambulance with an EMS crew. She went to the hospital as a precaution.

Police said the woman was backing into the space and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. Once she hit the gas, the car jumped the curb and went down the ravine.
