An ex-girlfriend is facing attempted murder charges after Wayne County deputies say she set a house on fire last month.

The incident was reported around 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 18 at a home in the Dudley community, according to a news release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The initial call to authorities reported an ex-girlfriend was “seen banging on the doors and windows of the residence,” the news release said.

The suspect left the scene as soon as deputies arrived.

When deputies got near the home, they smelled gasoline and saw that a side of the home was on fire.

The fire was extinguished.

Yalander Latham, 32, of Camp Trailee Road in Dudley was arrested. She is charged with felony first-degree arson and felony attempted first-degree murder.

Latham is being held in the  Wayne County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bond.
