A teenager who was shot in the face in Goldsboro Saturday morning has since died, police say.
The incident was reported around 11:20 a.m. along Banks Avenue, according to a news release from Goldsboro police.
When officers arrived they found a 17-year-old who had been shot in the face.
The teen was taken to Wayne UNC Vidant Hospital, but later died.
“The initial investigation revealed that the victim may have been accidentally shot by a known acquaintance,” police said in the news release.
Two guns were found by police at the scene.
Other juveniles who were also at the scene were released to their parents, police said.
The incident is still under investigation.
