Wilson man charged in deadly St. Patrick’s Day stabbing

A Wilson man was arrested just hours after a deadly stabbing Saturday afternoon, Wilson police said.

The incident was reported around 2:20 p.m. at 709 Suggs Street, according to a news release from Wilson police.

 Bobby Romale Jones, 50, was found lying in a parking lot suffering from stab wounds to his chest, the news release said.

“Officers and EMS attempted life-saving efforts on Jones but were unsuccessful. Jones was pronounced deceased at Wilson Medical Center,” police said.

Police said they were able to determine a suspect and his location.

Kelvin Raynard Mangum Jr., 27, of  704 Hines Street was arrested, police said.

Mangum was charged with murder in Jones’ death, according to the news release.


Mangum is being held in the Wilson County Detention Facility until his first court appearance.
