WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A man has been arrested after investigators said he was smuggling heroin from New Jersey into Beaufort County.
Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Kiante Izquierdo, 22, of Washingon, on April 19.
Izquierdo was charged with trafficking in heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His arrest stemmed from Investigators making purchases of heroin from him.
During the purchases of heroin, investigators learned that Izquierdo was smuggling heroin from New Jersey into Beaufort County.
Investigators conducted a traffic stop on Izquierdo when he returned from New Jersey to Beaufort County.
K-9 Bodi alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted.
During the search, officials said they found six bricks of heroin and two bags of marijuana in Izquierdo’s luggage.
According to officials, a brick of heroin contains 50 small bags of heroin.
Investigators executed a search warrant on Izquierdo’s residence and said they found a Glock 9 mm pistol, a digital scale and packaging material used to package a controlled substance.
Izquierdo was sen to the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
