HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) –  A man was sentenced to a little over 58 years in prison after he was convicted of child sex crimes from 2016.

According to a news release from District Attorney Greg Newman, Kenneth D. Whitehead, of Bristol, Tenn., was convicted on two counts of statutory rape of a child under 15.

Whitehead was sentenced to 699 months in prison.

Back in 2016, Whitehead was wanted out of Dent County, Missouri for kidnapping a 13-year-old girl.

He was found with the girl in the North Mills Campground in the Pisgah National Forest.

Both Whitehead and the girl were taken to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, where they spoke with detectives.

Detectives later charged Whitehead with two felony counts of first-degree statutory rape of a child under 15.
