FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Hope Mills man has been charged in a crash that killed a motorcycle driver in Fayetteville.UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed in crash was command sergeant major at Fort Bragg

On Saturday around 5:30 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the area of Gillespie Street near the intersection of W. Mountain Drive in reference to a report of a traffic crash.

Police said 26-year-old Justin Andrew Dunlap, of Hope Mills, was driving a 2000 Honda southbound on Gillespie Street. They said Dunlap crossed the center median, entered into oncoming traffic, and crashed into a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling northbound on Gillespie Street. The driver of the motorcycle, 47-year-old Lynn Edward Ratley, of Hope Mills, died as a result of injuries he suffered in the crash.

Justin Andrew Dunlap faces charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, and driving left of center. Dunlap was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains on $100,000.00 secured bond.
