Man stabbed to death by roommate in NC apartment, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A man was stabbed to death by his roommate at an apartment in east Charlotte early Friday morning, police say, sparking a homicide investigation.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. at an apartment on Perth Court near Milton Road. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the roommates were fighting when one of the roommates stabbed and killed the other.

The suspect called 911 and remained on scene until officers arrived. Officers say they found the victim stabbed multiple times inside the apartment. He was pronounced dead on scene. The suspect was taken to Atrium Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police believe there was an “existing relationship” between the two men, although the extent of that relationship was not disclosed.

The victim’s name will be released after his family has been notified of his death. There’s no word on what may have sparked the fight between the roommates. The suspect’s name has not been released.
