PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WNCT) — Pine Knoll Shores Police responded to Memorial Park on Saturday in reference to a piece of military ordnance that was found on the beach.
With the assistance of Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), the USMC’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called and came to the scene to take possession of the ordnance.
Officials cautioned that if you ever come across anything like this on a beach, or anywhere for that matter, never touch it and call 911 immediately.
“We would like to thank NCIS and Camp Lejeune’s EOD unit for assisting us today. We value our working relationship with our surrounding agencies including local, state, and federal,” Pine Knoll Shores police said.
